Evaluation

Usability evaluation (one, two, or three experts)

Evaluation report example

This evaluation method (also known as an “Expert” or “Heuristic Evaluation”) is performed by one, two or three usability experts for the purpose of detecting usability issues.

Expert evaluators apply usability criteria, interface standards, and design principles as they navigate through the product's user interface. Their goal is to detect errors and potential usability issues.

This type of “fast-track” evaluation requires very little preparation or planning, and can be part of an iterative design process that is applied in all design development phases. Problems are prioritized according to their respective level of importance.

Deliverables: evaluation report that contains screen captures, recommendations, and solution paths. The report is written in a straightforward and concise format, which greatly facilitates its use by the design team.
