Analysis

Contextual analysis

Contextual analysis provides direct feedback as the user experience is being formulated. This analysis helps us to understand the different ways and contexts in which a product will be used, including the technical requirements of the product, the user's environment, and targeted users.

This type of analysis includes:

  • A review of relevant product information and specifications
  • Clarification of the product’s user environments (i.e.: the various tasks that the product is intended to perform)
  • Definitions of user characteristics: functional requirements, restrictions, and barriers (technological, organizational, environmental, and financial)

As part of a contextual analysis, we conduct an ethnographic survey in order to gather information directly from actual users. This helps us to align the product more closely with the actual needs and abilities of users.

Deliverables: analysis report that describes project context, users' needs and limitations, the various user groups (user profiles), and distinctive features of product users.
