Cognitive Ergonomics

Optimize user satisfaction and product performance

Cognitive Ergonomics is a scientific discipline that:

  • Studies the user, the user's abilities, the user's limits, and the cognitive methods of functioning.
  • Modifies the tools, equipment, and systems that make up the user environment
  • Seeks to optimize user comfort, security, and satisfaction
  • Seeks to enhance product performance.

At Yu Centrik, we apply the governing principles of Cognitive Ergonomics in assessing the usability of your products

Usability: an inexpensive and cost effective process

Cognitive Ergonomics -> Usability -> "Usable" product

The product usability study entails measuring the extent to which users are able to use a product for its designed purposes effectively, efficiently, comfortably, and with enjoyment (in a given environment).

Usability is profitable!

A 2003 study conducted by Jakob Nielsen among 863 website design and development projects revealed that usability-related activities cost between 8% and 13% of the total project budget, and resulted in usability improvements of 135%*.

Average improvement:

    • Sales and conversion rate: 100%
    • Traffic (number of visits): 150%
    • User performance and productivity: 161%
    • Use of specific functions: 202%

*Among 42 projects in which similar usability metrics were collected. Nielsen, 2003.
